Start washing your car by hosing it down thoroughly with plain water. This is to get rid of surface dirt and grime on the car. Leave it wet while you thoroughly clean around the car. Places to check are under bumpers, around the exhaust system, and the insides of fenders. After you have completed these two steps, mix the car washing liquid with water and apply the result to your car using a hefty sponge (clean your sponge regularly or it may not do the job properly).

Apply gentle pressure as you soap the car. Work your way down from the roof, taking care to clean the headlights as you do this. Clean the wheels of your car thoroughly as well. This will prevent rust from gathering.

After washing the soap off the car, it is extremely important that you dry the water droplets left with piece of cloth. Leaving your car to dry in the air will leave stains of the droplets on it, thereby increasing the length of time you spend cleaning. When using the cloth, make sure it is dry for each area of the car, so that your car is thoroughly rid of water. Once the water is gone, you can wax and polish the car.

If your car windows are tinted, never use ammonia while cleaning. It may be too harsh. To banish any odor, toss baking soda around the inside of your car, and remove it while vacuuming. The steering and gear shift of the car should be thoroughly disinfected, as these areas come in regular contact with germs. Clean the seat covers and the mats with a spray, removing any residue with a carpet brush.

Washing a car is not as extensive a task as claimed, and it is also not true that you cannot do the job as well as a car wash. After all, why should you entrust your car to someone else’s hands on such a regular basis? Driving to and paying for a car wash costs quite a lot, and you can avoid this by working on your car yourself. Proper care of a car can turn it into a long lasting asset.
